Alpha Build

Since the last dev log, I have added one enemy, the bird type I mentioned previously. This bird enemy serves to "rush" the player and add further obstacles to my levels. I have created a power-up as well which is a health potion. This power-up is fairly self-explanatory.

Certain sprites were redone such as the ground sprite, and my background is crafted. I redid the sprite in order to add more of a "tower" feel with cracked brick now being the sprite. The background is also meant to add to the "tower" feel and adds a sense of height as you see clouds outside of the tower.

I created an arrow animation to help get the player moving immediately.  This is a simple method that gets the point across quicker than text. The arrow itself is green which contrasts everything else in my game so far to help in drawing the player's eye.

Camera ratio has also been altered so that the background can be seen properly. Playtesting has helped me identify that my quest for vertical platforming has made my own platforms hinder movement. The player has serious issues bumping their heads or clipping the edge of a platform resulting in their jumps being stopped. I definitely want to look into making my platforms passable from the bottom although I've never done something like that.  If I can't figure it out I'll have to put more attention in level design and make sure the player is able to easily jump without bumping their head.

Every change I have made has been in the interest of improving player understanding. The camera showing the background while only moving in the y axis helps get the point across that moving upwards is the focus.  The change of the ground sprite helps make things more cohesive and crisper.
